Buffalo Traffic Jam dropped their latest single “I Don’t Care,” ahead of their sold-out national Take Me Home Tour, kicking off later this month. Their EP Take Me Home gained a popular following amongst fans of the folk genre, country and broader indie space. This single is a breakup anthem just in time for Love Month.
“I Don’t Care” reflects on a relationship that was formerly consuming. The song kicks off with a journey in a truck, with the relationship in the rearview mirror, “Headed westbound, this old Ford’s makin’ a sound/Think I’m drownin’, the silence is so loud/And I’m so lonely, I could find you in a crowd/I finally found peace when you’re not around.”
Their signature raspy vocals create a raw sound brimming with emotion and vulnerability in every line. Throughout the repeating pre-chorus, the crux of the song is revealed: “When will someone show me love?/God, it kills me, I wasn’t enough.”
Buffalo Traffic Jam reflects on lies, soured memories and a relationship that no longer requires their every thought. “I Don’t Care,” is a seemingly blasé through line for a song where each lyric reflects a great deal of care that went into the relationship and the emotional mark that it left behind. Perhaps, at the end of the song, it is that the singer no longer cares to be in the relationship anymore, when compared to his longing at the beginning of the track.
